I am glad to know that the Energy and Climate Initiatives Society (ENCIS) is organising the 5thedition of this global forum -'Oil Spill India 2018" during 05th -06thJuly 2018 in New Delhi.

The longest coastline with increased maritime trade, exploration activities with handling of large quantum of liquid bulk cargo at the ports and the push for port-led development under Sagarmala requires development of infrastructure and simultaneously, focus on environment.

The Ministry of Shipping has taken several proactive interventions for the development of the maritime sector including the "Green Port"Initiative, which I am sure, would go a long way in helping the ports in the country for procurement of pollution response equipment necessary for keeping us prepared to face accidents.
